Church Creek No. 1 Report:

For the second year in a row, OVC helped host ABRT’s Church Creek Time Trial. The first of a two-race series was held on Saturday, notwithstanding the dismal forecast. Although it looked like we might escape with only a drizzle, Mother Nature provided a large dose of rain, wind, and cold right in the middle of prime racing time. OVC volunteers and racers were not deterred though!

After days on the fence, Freddy took the plunge and completed his first race ever. Freddy surely absorbed some of the worst weather and finished in about 1 hr 22 min. Mark and Roscoe were up next in the Cat 3’s. Mark easily cracked the hour mark in his first time trial, coming in at 57 min 12 sec and an average speed of 26 mph. Roscoe, on pace for about one hour, suffered a puncture with 3K to go. He walked to the finish and came in at 1 hr 25 min -- thanks to Terri for driving him back to the staging area. Sean, also in his first TT, sailed under the hour at 59 min 23 sec and claimed first place in the Cat 5’s -- way to go Sean!

OVC and ABRT especially thanks all the volunteers who suffered the elements and made this event happen. Terri, Dean P., Maria, Alex, Sonny, Bill, and Jim V. all deserve a hand for marshaling in the rain. Also, special thanks to Rob who was the race photographer and who captured these great shots of racing. Look for more to follow:
